Synopsis: During the Second World War a four-man British force is posted temporarily to a small Adriatic island. Apparently forgotten about by their superiors, they soon discover that a force of German soliders is also on the island, living in an abandoned monastery and happy to be sitting out the war in peace. The Germans suggest that they call a truce until one or the other side is picked up by submarine. The situation grows more complicated when a young woman, Elsa, lands as a castaway on the beach.
